The cost incurred by Public, Private and Voluntary sector organisations in the after care of a victim, coupled with the health and personal cost to the victim are reason enough to embark on effective prevention measures.

There is a profound and proven link between bogus caller victimisation and the consequential deteriorating health and welfare of individuals. It is vital that agencies work together to understand the crime and deliver simple, effective support to vulnerable people and victims.

IDentislot CIC work with all public sector agencies to share knowledge, good practices and ideas, and ensure that realistic and effective strategies can be successfully implemented in accordance with the Nationally recognised “doorstep cold calling protocol ” whilst also taking account of the individual needs of local communities.

Communities that benefit from the support of Neighbourhood Wardens and Warden controlled sheltered schemes show significant signs of success, due to the pre and post project support offered by the staff to local residents.

Multi agency Protocols and Standardisation

IDentislot support and encourage the development of National and local protocols whereby all organisations conducting business by means of home visits accept responsibility for pro – active methods of identification procedures, i.e.;

  • appointment system, via letters,
  • passwords,
  • ID cards,
  • uniforms,
  • clearly marked vehicles and
  • embarking on effective methods of educating staff with regard Distraction Burglary, and the importance of carrying and using ID cards.
  • encouraging occupiers to check ID cards.

Long-term support
IDentislot work with local agencies to help develop long-term education programmes and public information materials that should be made available to inform the general public of the code of conduct to be expected from legitimate business visitors when carrying out home visits.
Public expectations can thereby be changed so that the responsibility of proving authenticity is transferred to the visitor.

Carers and agencies are in a privileged position and are key to providing one to one support and maintaining the consistent message regarding good door step practice.
