Tackling the rise in door step crime
Theft from retailers and home owners is on the rise, according to Home Office figures - a direct result of the credit crunch. Tough times mean criminals will stop at nothing to gain access to a house, often posing as service engineers, meter readers, charity workers and postal workers, to name a few common examples. Once these potential criminals enter into a dialogue with the householder, they are far more likely to be able to gain access, cleverly convincing them they are genuine.

IDentislot can put an immediate stop to doorstep crime and bogus callers. It allows the householder to keep the door firmly shut, whilst they verify the caller’s true identity. The caller is asked to post their ID card through the IDentislot, so the householder can check the caller’s name, verify they were expecting them and confirm they are from the correct agency. If everything is in order, the home owner can let the caller in. If they are unsure, they can either telephone the caller’s agency to double check they are genuine, or send them away - all without having to open the door.

IDentislot has received endorsement from ‘Secured by Design’, the official UK Police flagship initiative supporting the principles of 'designing out crime'. IDentislot is suitable for all properties and can be easily installed within most external doors. It is excellent for those who live on their own, are alone in the house during the day or for vulnerable adults, such as the elderly.

Tackle bogus callers with IDentislot
Duxburys Reduce the Risk Ltd is offering a great opportunity for NSI installers to raise their profile by installing IDentislot into existing contracts within the private sector, housing associations, sheltered housing and council run properties. The principal of the IDentislot is to create a safer and more secure environment for the householder and provide a strong visual deterrent to bogus callers.

The IDentislot is a high quality device, which is fitted to the front door of a property. It allows an unknown caller's ID to be posted through to the homeowner for verification, whilst enabling them to keep the door firmly shut. Used in conjunction with a spy hole or Viewcom it ensures the door remains a defensive barrier, preventing crimes of distraction burglary and bogus callers.

For additional safety, all the packages available come with a reminder telephone mat which includes the golden rules of preventing doorstep crime and space for listing critical service and utility telephone numbers. The homeowner is then able to make a quick call to verify the caller’s identity.

Each installation can be completed within 30 minutes. An installation includes an IDentislot, reminder mat, demonstration and user instructions with either a spy hole or a Viewcom and back door bar.

The IDentislot is suitable for wooden, UPVC and composite doors. It has been granted "Secured By Design" status by the UK Police flagship initiative which supports the principle of “designing out crime”.

IDentislot achieves 'Police Preferred Specification' status from the Secured by Design police crime prevention initiative.
IDentislot, from Duxburys Reduce the Risk Ltd, has been awarded 'Police Preferred Specification' status by the UK Police flagship initiative, 'Secured by Design’. Identislot is designed to protect home owners against bogus callers. It allows a caller to post their ID card through a closed door for the home owner to view. The home owner then only opens the door if they are satisfied that the caller is genuine. Having to produce ID at all is usually enough to deter bogus callers and protect against crime. Keeping the door closed until the caller's identity is confirmed, dramatically reduces the risk of burglary.

Duxburys is one of just four personal security companies to achieve ‘Secured by Design’ crime reduction approval status - a testament to IDentislot's simple yet effective design. ‘Secured by Design’ supports the principles of 'designing out crime'. It focuses on crime prevention in homes and commercial premises.
